How I Should Have Started My Money Making Mission
| How did I get here? Could I have got here any quicker? What did I do wrong? I’m into the thirteenth week of my mission to make money using only free blogs and without any capital outlay. As I’ve been going for nearly a quarter of a year, plus 2007 is on the horizon, I thought it would be a good time for me to review what I have done. Sure I post Weekly Reports but these don’t tell the story. It all began in September with my first post and I posed the question: Is it possible to make money from free blogs? I had read that others have done so, but that was all theory and often a lot of hype. I didn’t really know what direction to take but I wanted to tell readers what I was doing so, perhaps, some of it might be of use to them. My First Week In the first week I wrote daily posts, joined AdSense and Amazon, exchanged a few links, set up meta tags, submitted the blog to search engines, learnt a little about keywords and started hitting the Blog Directories. What I Should Have Done Looking back, and hindsight is a wonderful thing, this is what I now feel are the essentials of the first week of a blog - and what I should and should not have done. (1) I should have forgot about AdSense and other affiliate programs, these can come later. The priority has to be to build up readership - visitors, hits or whatever you want to call them. The advertising (and money) can come later. To do this the first thing is to write regular, interesting posts. (2) The posts should be intelligent there is plenty of tat and stupid stuff on the blogosphere without anymore being added. By this I don't mean that they can't be amusing or funny. By stupid I mean ... rubbish. Try to be unique. There are millions of blogs so it’s necessary to stand out from the crowd in some way. Create a style of writing that is your own, look at things from a different angle. It also does no harm to be controversial and argumentative. Readers like argument, as long as it is intelligent and controlled. They also like controversy, a different stance on something or a post that makes you think. The best reaction I have had from posts is with subjects such as Is The Traffic From Hit Exchanges Worthwhile? and Secret Of Getting Success With Blog Directories, where I said that most Blog Directories are a ‘waste of time and effort’. (3) I should have been more conscious initially of using keywords within my posts. I now realise that my main keywords are: money, making, make, blog and, strangely enough, Mike. Okay, I'll make it (10) Have fun! Labels: AdSense, Advertising, Affiliates, Blog Directories, Blogs, exchange links, Keywords, meta tags, Money, myLot, Ping, Referrals, Search Engines |
