myLot, Money And Referrals
| I thought that today I'd give my final thoughts on myLot, other than perhaps updates if necessary. Recently myLot have amended their earnings algorithm for the better. I don't know fully how this works properly and, despite what others may write, no one else outside their heirarchy does. All myLot will say is an unhelpful, 'Our myLot mathematicians have worked long and hard on our elaborate payment system.' There are some basics to success with this money making program. 1) As soon as you join straight away try to refer other people to myLot. This, as I have explained before, is one of the secrets of making money with this and similar programs. The reason is simple as, in this case, myLot pay you 25% of what your referrals hare earned. The more you refer, the less hard work you'll have to do. 2) Try to comment on your referrals discussions whenever possible. 3) Comment on other people's discussions. This will earn you money but they have to be proper comments of several sentences length. Just answering 'Yes', 'No', 'I agree' or similar statements will earn you zilch, nothing. As myLot write: 'Our goal is to reward quality contributions to the myLot community. We’re not here to reward low-quality contributions, or even worse, attempts to game the earnings algorithm.' 4) Start your own discussions, preferably ones about 'your interests' - there is a place to list these in your Profile. Again they must be of a good quality otherwise they will be removed and you'll lose any earnings made on them. myLot confirm this: 'Discussions like “What’s your age” will be deleted as well as short responses like “ok” or “no”. Incidently there is no need to thank everyone who responds to your discussions. Again a quote: '... this will not increase your earnings.' 5) Rate discussions and comments, positive wherever possible. Also indicate the 'best reponse' to your own discussions. 6) Tag all of your comments and discussions - when requested. 7) Make friends if you wish, but try to only do so with people who will reciprocate properly, and will regularly comment on your discussions, as you will on theirs. It's pointless just having friends so you can boast, 'I have xxxxx number of friends'. They should be quality not quantity. To sum it up: Refer others, make quality comments and discussions, rate whenever you can positively, make quality friends and complete the tags when requested to do so. So that's all pretty straightforward. But there is more. myLot can bring referrals to your own blog or website if you have one. I'm getting 12 a day on average. To get these: a) Enter your blog or website address on your myLot Profile page. b) Go to the discussions that are applicable to the theme of your blog and enter relevant comments. You will find that occassionally you should be able to enter a link to your own blog. Don't do this in a blatant way, be subtle, as if you are trying to help by leaving the link. These are the main source of links that will lead to referrals to your own blog, website or whatever. I would add that you do this at your own risk. It's what I do, but I cannot confirm that this is approved by myLot themselves. They do write, 'The myLot services are for the personal use of members only and may not be used in connection with any commercial endeavors.' How you interpret this is up to you. My own conclusion is that myLot has been worthwhile to me personally. On a financial front it's hardly a big earner, but it all helps. I'm averaging, at the moment, $1.15 per day which is around $35 per month. This could, of course, improve but I've also had those 200+ visitors from them since I started with myLot 17 days ago. Nice summary Mike, that pretty much covers most of the basics of myLot, It certainly can drive a bit of traffic to your site and I think that this is probably of more benefit than any small amount of money that can be earned.

The only issue I have with mylot is that the ads and the content are a little too similar. Short term this will work well, but without effective advertising the revenue stream will drop over time.

I have to say, it is a great idea to respond to referrals discussions as it will not only build the community but also helps you earn more.
Another great way is to really get to know some of the other users on mylot, as you can create a network of serious mylotters that will back up your posts as well. To get to know more about other mylot users you can visit http://www.frappr.com/mylot to at least get an idea of where other mylot users are located.
I totally agree that MyLot is a great site as they have paid me $17.59 via PayPal recently.
