Experiencing MyBlogLog
| On December 8th I wrote that I had succumbed and joined MyBlogLog. I said I would report back but, to be honest, I have put off doing so. The reason being that I haven't really given it my full attention. MyBlogLog is a Social Network and I guess I haven't been sociable enough. You could say the site is similar to going to a large party, sales convention or something similar. What you should do at such functions is network, get involved, meet people and spread yourself about a bit, erm, that's dependent on what sort of party it is, of course. All I've really done is popped in, talked to a few friends I already knew and watched from the sidelines. To reap the full benefits of MyBlogLog I feel I should have joined in the activities a little more. Even though I haven't done much, other than but their widget in my sidebar, I feel I've still received some small benefits from my free membership. For example, I've had 49 referrals from the site, I've come across a few interesting blogs and I've 'met' some nice people. I've also enjoyed looking at the widget, on my blog, to see who has visited recently. It's nice to see some friendly faces. Oh, and the statistics that I get are fascinating. I can view where visitors to my blog have come from, the links they clicked on and what they looked at yesterday. I've also had a few people join my community, I've got some friends and contacts and even some admirers. You know, I'm beginning to think I could get quite enthusiastic about MyBlogLog if I wanted. All I need is to spend a little more time getting involved. Time! That's the stumbling block, despite me following my own tips on Time Management In the Workplace. With blogging it's necessary to prioritise. I may well push MyBlogLog further up the list. As you have no doubt heard Yahoo have 'now brought MyBlogLog into the fold' and will be introducing several new features. To save me explaining them you can read about these here. As to whether Yahoo is for the good of all remains to be seen. As they say: 'we have a global community of over a half a billion users ...' Good? Bad? Not sure. Sometimes Social Networks can get too big and unwieldy, but lets be positive and think about the potential and all of those additional smiling faces. I suppose to sum up, MyBlogLog it is what you make of it. I'm sure, if used to the full, it will produce referrals, good contacts and could well be a blog booster. I'll finish by quoting the words of Yahoo! At Yahoo! ... we’re always looking for ways to better connect the people in that community to each other and to the communities (large and small) that they care about. MyBlogLog helps us do this like never before. If blogging was originally about building a community and having a conversation with people in that community, then MyBlogLog provides the missing link that makes those connections more real.So there you go. MyBlogLog has got even more attention after Yahoo brought the site earlier this year.
As you said Mike it's all a question of how much you get involved on MyBlogLog as anything else. I visit members from time to time and read their blogs and my network has expanded very nicely.
Their hits tracker is nice, although limited at 10 visitors (unless you pay for it) but its great entering there and seeing 3 out clicks going to adsense.
Don't know if Rob StGeorge has tipped you off already Mike but strange things are still happening PR wise. You're looking like a 5 at some DCs - keep a close eye on this and good luck.
Ps. Please don't remove my links!;)
Hi Mike,
Congrats for a big jump of having a PR5 for a 3month old blog. Nice work
MyBlogLog certainly interests a lot of people.
Johnny: I just hope that all of the extra interest won't spoil the community. I think it's quality that counts more than quantity.
Tisha: Must look you up on MyBlogLog, glad it's working for you.
tom & ruben: Thanks for that, so much so I based today's post on it!
Mike.
There is a resounding desire for meaningfull freeroll tournaments in which Online Casinos Extreme players at all levels have the opportunity to compete in tournament play when the prize money is huge... but the buyin is somewhat prohibitive most.
