Should It be Done Every Day?
Since I started this blog my aim, besides making money, was to write a post every day. I felt that this was necessary for all sorts of reasons and something I had to do.Over the last seven to ten days I haven't been able to post something daily because of other commitments. I was slightly concerned about this. The strange thing is that my worries have been unfounded. The blog is still getting the same amount of visitors and I'm getting the same number of clicks. In fact, if anything, the number of hits has increased - though I suspect that this is purely because of the time of the year. January is an active time for people and their New Year resolutions about making money. So I have broken what I considered to be the great taboo but it's virtually made no difference to this blog. The question is: Is writing a post every day essential to success? Or perhaps even more than one post. Personally I still feel that something should be written every day, and I hope soon to get back to this, but it does sort of show that there are a lot of myths about blogging. The 'experts' aren't always correct. Probably when starting blogging regular posts are essential to build trust and to show that you are serious about what you are doing. Once established though, it may be preferable but not quite so necessary. It would be interesting to know how other bloggers feel about this. Good luck, Mike. Hi Mike
I've been lurking on your blog for a looooooong time. Thought it's time I said hello!
I've read a couple of blogs that have commented on the same thing - that when they decreased the frequency of their blogposts, it either reflected no dip in their traffic or increased it.
Like you touched on, I think it's only fairly popular blogs that can get away with this though.
take care...
Hi Mike,
as you know I didn't post anything at all for 10 months and my traffic actually increased over that time. I'm not recommending that you stop posting for 10 months or anything, because frequent posting is what keeps your regular readers coming back. I think if you have the time and something to say then keep posting daily, but if you miss a few days or even weeks here and there it won't do you any harm.

It depends. I don't post everyday (just every weekday). Ironically I do most of my writing at weekends, working on other projects during the week. The visitor numbers do take a hit over the weekend, but return to normal on monday.
It's about knowing your audience. I thought my readers read everything even at weekends, but most read my blog whilst at work ;). Lord knows I'm fearing a depression and mass layoffs. How will my blog cope :P
i stopped doing daily posts on some of my blogs and on some it increased comments and hits, and on the other it actually had a negative effect. I think people should try it, and if it doesn't work, go back to what it is you do
I certainly believe that daily posting can increase your traffic especially for a new blog like mine. However it is hard for a busy person. But if you have an established blog like yours Mike, 3 to 4 times a weeks is fine. Because not every readers can cope up with daily postings. I usually visit your blog every weekend. I just thought of passing by today. have a nice day
I believe its all about the quality of post not the quantity.
I write when there is something interesting to talk about.
wow is that really martin i just saw post a comment. how funny.
anyway Mike recently as you know I have slowed down considerably posting, however traffic is ticking along fairly consistently and subscribers seem to be slowly growing. I think however you need a good article base to be able to get away with this, i.e no good for a new blog.

I found some blogs get on the top in search engine though they did not have any regular post, and original post. They only copy-paste from any source.
here is the result when i enter "make money online" on google I got http://moneymakerinfo.blogspot.com/ at the top ten list site.
I think there should be more bloggers which blog in that topic and provide more quality contents.
i don't know what had happened?
oh yeach. it's the first time i come to ur blog. i'm very interested with your content. I've added ur link. I'm waiting for ur feedback (I need link, hehe).. thanks
You are right mike. Its good to write every day, however lately I have been writing once a week or even longer and not much difference in traffic. The aim should be to update your blog with the frequency you are comfortable with, whether it be daily, weekly or monthly. Traffic still comes.

Any PR3 or higher blog want to exchange links with me are welcome. Your blog should have the same topic as mine. Just leave a comment and I will reply.

Thank you all for your comments - there are some great ones amongst them.
I think we mostly agree that missing the odd day's post won't do too much harm - providing the blog is reasonably established.
Good luck,
Mike.
make any controversial post, mike.
i remember when shoe money write that mylogblog can make blogger banned from adsense, he got a lot of visitor, which pro contra.
For me it is a case by case basis. I have about sixty blogs in my reader. Most of my favorites post at least once daily which is great. A couple of them post four to nine times a day which is too much because I find myself not really reading some of the posts like I normally would. I have a few that only post one to three times a week and I am okay with it because when they do post it is great stuff.
In a perfect world for me I would like the blogs I read to only post at a max two posts a day six or seven days a week.
I agree with what have been said here, you can write little and your blog popularity can get even higher but that depends on the quality of what you write.
If you have the muse to write just do it...
